MENA FCCG participates in World Union of Arab Bankers event seeking to raise awareness of best practice anti-tax evasion efforts

MENA FCCG participated in the recent World Union of Arab Bankers (WUAB) event, titled “Today’s Compliance, Tomorrow’s Success: Advancing Arab Banking Excellence” which took place on February 12 – 13 in Amman, Jordan. The event, bringing together leading combating financial crime experts from the MENA region, sought to provide a platform for knowledge exchange, exploring emerging trends, and fostering collaboration among industry professionals.

Ms. Rula Kiriakos, Head of the Anti-Tax Evasion at Arab Bank, represented MENA FCCG delivering a presentation entitled “Implementing an Effective Anti-Tax Evasion Program”. Her presentation tackled three main areas: the increased regulatory focus on tax evasion, navigating FATCA and CRS in the MENA region, and cross border tax compliance challenges & strategies. The presentation highlighted the importance of proactive compliance measures and the significance of cooperation between financial institutions, regulators, and industry experts.
