MENA FCCG’S Europe Chapter presents the newly released Culture Assessment Guide during ABA meeting

On Septeber 28th, 2023, MENA FCCG’s Europe Chapter, joined a meeting at the Arab Bankers Association (ABA) offices in London with CEOs of Arab banks operating in the UK were it presented the newly released Culture Assessment Guide. The Guide was produced by MENA FCCG in collaboration with Themis, the financial crime specialist that has a Strategic Alliance with the European Chapter. The ABA is also a Strategic Partner of the Europe Chapter.

Two senior executives from the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority attended the event and gave their own observations on the state of banking culture in the UK and what they expect from firms that they supervise.

Thomas Noone, the Chair of the European Chapter commented; “we are delighted to be able to offer this insightful Guide which has been a collaborative effort of the MENA FCCG members and Themis. The Guide will enable firms to consider different aspects of their culture and, importantly, will enable them to measure their culture and identify where improvements can be made.”

Dickon Johnstone, CEO of Themis and Carel van Randwyck, Head of Impact and Partnerships at Themis expressed; “Themis was delighted to participate in the preparation of this Guide to organizational culture in banks. We know from our interactions with financial institutions in the Middle East and beyond just how important this issue is for regulators, banks, and their customers.”

The European Chapter of the MENA FCCG was created in 2021 to lead and coordinate the efforts of banks in the UK and the EU in developing and implementing best practices on fighting financial crime.
