Europe Chapter of MENA FCCG Hosts Inaugural CFC Forum
The Europe Chapter of MENA FCCG held a Welcome Dinner the night of May 15 where Mr. George E Kanaan, Chief Executive Officer, Arab Bankers Association welcomed the group and expressed his delight towards the forum’s agenda and list of speakers anticipating fruitful discussions the next day. On May 16, 2024, the Chapter held its inaugural Combatting Financial Crime (CFC) Forum in London bringing together compliance and money laundering reporting officers from Arab banks operating in the UK and Europe. The Forum was hosted by the London Stock Exchange Group (LESG) and was held in their offices in central London.
Speakers from the UK police, from financial regulators, and from specialized law firms, and other subject matter experts contributed to the discussions and presented their own perspectives on current trends in financial crime and optimal ways to combat it. Mr. Tom Noone, Chair of MENA FCCG Europe Chapter commented, “It has been an incredible journey for the Europe Chapter since its inception in 2021. Seeing a great group of compliance professionals all collectively working towards a shared vision of enhancing the fight against financial crime will create the needed momentum to make a greater difference in the region and beyond.”
